The US Air Force has awarded Telos Corporation a task order valued at almost $800,000 to install premise wiring that supports secure wireless local area network voice and data communications at Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina. The order includes professional services and associated cabling and telecom termination equipment, including wiring in the base's network control center.
According to the company, this contract is awarded against the Network Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) contract vehicle. The task order also includes installation services for future wireless access points to enable wireless local area network expansion. Telos will provide installation services and infrastructure to support the base’s secure communications capabilities. The work is scheduled to be completed in February 2009.
Telos claims to serve as a contractor on the five-year, $9 billion NETCENTS contract vehicle. NETCENTS, an Air Force indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, enables the federal government to purchase hardware and software, network-centric voice, video and data products and services, and telephony services from preferred contractors. NETCENTS provides a proven competitive edge for the federal government by reducing the time-to-market for critical networking and communications equipment and services
Charisse Stokes, southeast NETCENTS program manager for Telos, said: “The work performed by Telos professionals will ensure reliable telecom networks now and in the future. This contract demonstrates our ability to serve the critical communications needs of the Air Force and to continue our support of military missions and US government operations."
Earlier this year, Telos was awarded a task order to implement the second generation WLAN expansion at 110 Air Force locations worldwide, including all AMC bases.
