To enable reduce costs and cope with increasing data traffic

Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by Indonesian service provider PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom),to undertake a major transformation of the latter's backbone network.

Telkom will also manage operational and power consumption challenges resulting from traffic growth, by leveraging Alcatel-Lucent's Converged Backbone Transformation offering.

Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will supply 1830 Photonic Service Switch combined with its service router IP/MPLS platform with integrated tuneable dense wavelength division multiplexing interfaces for Telkom.
