Sierra Wireless introduces new embedded module

CBR Staff Writer Published 01 October 2008

Sierra Wireless, a provider of wireless wide area modem solutions, has introduced the MC8792V, a new module added to its line of embedded modules.

According to the company, the MC8792V embedded module can be integrated into OEM devices, including fixed wireless terminals, point-of-sale devices, as well as computers and ruggedized laptops, offering complete wireless data solutions over HSPA networks utilizing the 900, 1900, or 2100 MHz frequency bands.

The MC8792V module includes GPS support and enables hardware devices to function as powerful communications tools with both voice and data capabilities. It offers a solution for OEM customers, while maintaining high-end functionality and superior performance, said Sierra Wireless.

Trent Punnett, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development at Sierra Wireless, said: An increasing number of network operators around the world are currently considering, or are already using the 900 MHz frequency range in their HSPA network deployments. The MC8792V caters to these companies, providing the same premium functionality and performance that is expected of Sierra Wireless embedded modules while enabling OEM customers to align themselves with other markets offering mobile broadband technology.
